The Beginning

Les Kjos opens a cabinet and millwork shop in Kalispell, Montana — the foundation of what would become Western Building Center.

Flathead Valley Growth

The company expands operations to meet demand from families and builders throughout the Flathead Valley, establishing a reputation for quality materials and honest service.

Across Montana

Western Building Center grows beyond the Flathead Valley, opening stores in communities across western Montana to bring expert building supply service closer to more customers.

Do it Best Partnership

WBC joins the Do it Best dealer cooperative, combining the buying power of a national network with the personal service of a locally owned business.

Specialty Stores

The company adds specialty locations — Kalispell Rental Center for equipment and Polson Outdoor Equipment — extending service beyond traditional building supply.

Strategic Growth

WBC acquires JM Lumber in Great Falls (established 1923) and Pro X Home Center in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, expanding the family to serve even more communities.
