Yale Expressions Keyed Lever Sets (Nils, Holden, Brunswick, Farmington)

Yale Expressions keyed lever sets solve the universal handing problem that drives contractors crazy. Levers like Nils and Holden are non-handed, reducing inventory needs and installation mistakes. Combined with adjustable latches and adjustable 2-3/8” or 2-3/4” backsets, these Grade 3 lever sets eliminate most of the guesswork that causes callbacks.

The real value shows up in keyway flexibility. Schlage (SC1) - Standard, Kwikset (KW1) - Optional, Weiser (WR5) - Optional means contractors can match existing systems without forcing homeowners into complete lock replacements. Removable cylinder design lets you rekey without special tools — a feature that matters when clients lose keys or buy a house with unknown key holders.

Universal Installation Features

The engineering behind these lever sets targets the headaches contractors face daily. 1-3/8” to 1-3/4” (Standard residential thickness) door compatibility covers virtually every residential application in Montana. Standard 2-1/8” face bore and 1” edge bore match pre-drilled doors perfectly.

Non-handed design makes the biggest difference. Universal (Fits both Right and Left-handed doors) applies to both Nils and Holden models. No more ordering left-hand versus right-hand levers. No more wrong parts showing up at the jobsite. Stock one SKU, install on any door.

Style-Specific Applications

Each lever serves different architectural needs:

Nils: Pragmatic, modern lever with a straight, clean profile. Works with Owen, Marcel rosettes. The straight profile fits contemporary homes, especially the mountain modern style gaining traction in Whitefish and Big Sky markets.

Holden: Modern lever with a softer, circular grip design. Same Universal (Fits both Right and Left-handed doors) flexibility as Nils. Compatible with Owen, Marcel rosettes.

Brunswick: Ergonomic, curved lever with a traditional to transitional aesthetic. Unlike Nils and Holden, Brunswick requires Handed (Must specify Right or Left-handed for interior sets). Works with Ellington, Owen, Washington-DC rosettes.

Farmington: Traditional, classic curved lever design. Also Handed (Must specify Right or Left-handed). Pairs with Maguire, Everly rosettes for traditional homes.

Available in Polished Chrome (US26), Satin Brass (US4), Satin Nickel (US15), Flat Black (US19), and Oil-Rubbed Bronze (US10B). The Flat Black and Oil-Rubbed Bronze finishes match the rustic aesthetic common in Montana mountain homes. 5-Year Finish Warranty matters when dealing with temperature swings from -20°F to 90°F.

FAQ

Can I use different keyways on the same project? Yes, but why would you? Keyways are compatible with Schlage, Kwikset, or Weiser systems depending on the cylinder chosen. Pick one system and stick with it for simplified key management.

Which levers work on both left and right-hand doors? Nils and Holden feature universal handing. Brunswick and Farmington require you to specify handing when ordering.

Do these work with existing door prep? Compatible with standard 2-1/8” door bores and 1-3/8” to 1-3/4” door thicknesses. If your doors have standard prep, these fit.

What’s the real difference between Grade 3 and higher grades? Grade 3 (Designed to meet ANSI/BHMA standards) means residential use. Grade 2 would be light commercial. Grade 1 is heavy commercial. For most Montana homes, Grade 3 provides adequate security.
