MoistureShield Fathom Railing with Square Balusters

Factory-welded steel railing panels with pre-attached brackets deliver commercial-grade durability and ‘plug-and-play’ installation speed. The 5/8” square steel balusters come powder-coated in Matte Black or Hammered Bronze, bringing the clean lines contractors want without the field assembly headaches.

Steel construction provides higher strength and a thinner profile compared to wood or composite railing alternatives. That matters when you’re dealing with Montana snow loads and temperature swings that would warp lesser materials. The 15-year transferable limited warranty covers both structural integrity and the powder-coat finish — confidence that this railing won’t become a callback in five years.

Installation Speed That Actually Matters

Pre-assembled panels and pre-attached brackets make this quick installation — not marketing quick, but actually quick. Snap a chalk line, install 2x8 blocking beneath the deck surface for post support, plumb and level the posts, then secure the railing panel to the posts using brackets and fasteners. No field welding. No baluster spacing. No measuring 32 times to get consistent gaps.

The panels arrive fully assembled from the factory. Base kit contents include fully welded railing panels with pre-attached mounting brackets, though posts, bracket kits, post caps, and touch-up paint are sold separately.

Level panels come in 6ft, 8ft, and 10ft lengths at either 34” height (36-38” finished) or 40” height (42-44” finished). Stair panels run 6ft or 8ft lengths. Post options include 2”x2” and 3”x3” in Mid, End, Corner, Blank, and Fascia configurations.

Why Steel Beats Everything Else Here

Cold-rolled steel with premium powder-coat finish handles temperature cycling better than any composite or aluminum option. Steel doesn’t expand and contract like aluminum. It doesn’t get brittle in cold like vinyl. The powder coating process bonds at the molecular level — this isn’t paint that’ll chip off when a shovel hits it.

Code-compliant with 2” or 4” bottom spacing options to meet IRC and IBC requirements means no inspector headaches. The panels work for both residential and commercial applications.

Bottom Line

Fathom delivers what contractors need: fast installation, proven durability, and zero callbacks from warped rails or loose balusters. The factory welding and powder coating eliminate the two biggest failure points in railing systems. Applications span residential decks, balconies, and staircases to commercial exterior decks, hotels, restaurants, rooftop walkways, public balconies, poolside and even interior installations.

MoistureShield brings over 30 years of zero structural field failures to their railing line. That track record matters when you’re putting your name on a project. Steel construction, factory assembly, and proven coatings — this system earns its place on Montana decks that need to survive real winters.
